Level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance) within the Private Security Industry

This course is designed for learners looking to apply for a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a CCTV operator in public space surveillance and delivers the knowledge and understanding needed by learners and meets the requirements of current legislation.

To complete this qualification learners are expected to undertake approximately 31 hours of learning. The SIA stipulates a minimum of 22contact hours (3-days) if self-study is undertaken.

Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work

The First Aid at Work Level 3 qualification (FAW) is ideal for most businesses whose risk assessment has identified that they require a fully trained first aider for their workplace. All courses are delivered, evaluated and quality assured to meet the new guidelines set out by the HSE in October 2015 and meet the requirements of the First Aid at Work (First Aid) regulations 1981.

This course must be at least 18 contact hours and run over a minimum of 3 days.The certificate is valid for 3 years.

Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work

The Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 qualification (EFAW) is ideal for most businesses whose risk assessment has identified that there is no requirement for a fully trained first aider for their workplace. All courses are delivered, evaluated and quality assured to meet the new guidelines set out by the HSE in October 2015 and meet the requirements of the First Aid at Work (First Aid) regulations 1981.

Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders (RQF)

This qualification is aimed at individuals working in, or preparing to work in, any industry that involves the retail sale of alcohol. These industries can include pubs, retailers, large night clubs, cafés, restaurants, hotels and sports facilities.

Anyone wishing to sell or authorise the sale of alcohol by retail on licensed premises must hold a personal licence. To become a personal licence holder, an individual should obtain a regulated personal licence holder’s qualification.

A personal licence allows the holder to sell or authorise the sale of alcohol. A personal licence is also needed to apply to become a designated premises supervisor (DPS).

Topics covered include:

  • Understanding the application process for a personal licence
  • The legal duties of a personal licence holder
  • The roles, responsibilities and functions of licensing authorities
  • The licensing objectives and why they’re so important
  • How the nature and strength of alcohol can affect your customers
  • The law relating to protecting children on a licensed premises

This qualification can be delivered and assessed in a classroom environment, or remotely through e-learning with a remotely invigilated assessment.

Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People (RQF)

This qualification covers how to safeguard and protect children, young people and practitioners in the workplace as well as how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused.

Duties are placed on a range of organisations to ensure they have regard to the need to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This includes the need for appropriate safeguarding training, as employers are responsible for ensuring staff are competent to carry out their responsibilities towards the safeguarding of children and young people.

This qualification can be used to support the training of employees.

Level 2 Award In Working as a Security Officer within the Private SecurityIndustry

This regulated qualification has been developed to meet the requirements of the SIA and provides the necessary skills and knowledge to apply for an SIA licence and work as a Security Guard within the Private Security Industry.

Subjects covered include the importance of safe working practices to comply with legal requirements, the role of a security officer, the law relevant to the role of a security officer, how to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations and good practice following conflict situations.

This course is for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualifications requirements.

*To complete this qualification learners are expected to undertake approximately 23 hours of learning. The SIA stipulates a minimum of 13 contact hours (2-days) if self-study is undertaken.

Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry (Top-up)

This course has been developed for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a security officer and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualifications requirements.

*To complete this qualification learners are expected to undertake approximately 6 hours of learning. The SIA stipulates a minimum of 1 hour and 50 minutes contact time (0.5-days) if self-study is undertaken.

Principles of terror threat awareness

Minimising personal risk for security officers.

* Indicates a requirement to have a First Aid qualification with a minimum of 12 month remaining prior to attending the course. First aid qualifications can be delivered as part of the course package if required.
